The Best of Penguins on TV

Penguins have their place in the wild but also in Hollywood. Maybe it’s because they are so darn cute, or maybe its the way they all play together, but whatever it is, Penguins have a special place in our hearts. This is true to the extent that they have their own cartoons and characters. Check out these fictional penguin characters and see if you remember any or maybe even all of them:

  • Happy Feet; This entire movie is about baby penguins, what could be cuter? Oh, wait.. dancing penguins! The movie is entertaining for kids of all ages, including the child in the oldest of us. The Amigos, for example, is a group of spanish penguins, and are extremely charming and hard not to love.
  • Chilly Willy; This is a classic character dating all the way back to the 1950’s. What started as a book for children gained so much popularity that there was a television show developed.
  • Cozy Heart; one of our all-time favourite Care Bears. A soft-spoken, lovable Care Bear who is not grey or black, but is purple.
  • Mary Poppins; Who could forget the penguin waiters in Mary Poppins. These goofy penguins serve tea to Mary Poppins and are extremely fun to watch.
  • Peso; If you have young children in this day and age, perhaps you are familiar with the Octonauts. Peso the Penguin is actually a doctor, the resident medic for this group of unlikely heroes.
  • Playboy Penguin; One of the best cartoons of all time features a cooky penguin as well. Playboy Penguin is a mute baby who looks for help from Bugs Bunny
  • Scamper; A cute cartoon movie about the adventures of one not so little penguin with amazing courage. The Adventures of Scamper the Penguin is a self-explanatory title and plot.

There is not one of these that will not bring a chuckle or two.
